Being prepared for a disaster such as a hurricane can make all the difference in safety as well as damages. Each day this week we will be posting tips that can help you be prepared for a hurricane or any other major event. There is always comfort in having peace of mind knowing that you are ready.

Day 5 of Hurricane Prep Week is about getting your home ready. If you plan to ride out the storm in your home, make sure it is in good repair and up to local hurricane building code specifications. Many retrofits are not as costly or time consuming as you may think. Have the proper plywood, steel or aluminum panels to board up the windows and doors. Remember, the garage door is the most vulnerable part of the home, so it must be able to withstand the winds. Trim your trees to prevent damage from snapped branches and board up your windows to protect them from flying debris. Does Your Hartford, Wisconsin Home Have A Mold Problem?

3/29/2021 (Permalink)

Mold Mold can spread through a home in as little as 48 hours.

Microscopic mold spores naturally occur almost everywhere, both outdoors and indoors. This makes it impossible to remove all mold from a home or business. Therefore, mold remediation reduces the mold spore count back to its natural or baseline level. Some restoration businesses advertise “mold removal” and even guarantee to remove all mold, which is a fallacy. Consider the following mold facts:

  • Mold is present almost everywhere, indoors and outdoors.
  • Mold spores are microscopic and float along in the air and may enter your home through windows, doors, or AC/heating systems or even hitch a ride indoors on your clothing or a pet.
  • Mold spores thrive on moisture. Mold spores can quickly grow into colonies when exposed to water. These colonies may produce allergens and irritants.
  • Before mold remediation can begin, any sources of water or moisture must be addressed. Otherwise, the mold may return.
  • Mold often produces a strong, musty odor and can lead you to possible mold problem areas.
  • Even higher-than-normal indoor humidity can support mold growth. Keep indoor humidity below 45 percent.

If your home or business has a mold problem, we can inspect and assess your property and use our specialized training, equipment, and expertise to remediate your mold infestation.

Our Little Mascot, Enzo Our little mascot, Enzo

No that little man doesn't work for us, but he is our mascot!

SERVPRO of Southern Washington County may be new to the AREA but we can assure you we are NOT new to SERVPRO or at what we do.

Both of our owners worked at other SERVPROs until one day they decided they wanted to open up their own. They wanted to create a work environment that was customer first focused, work goal- oriented, and provide the absolute BEST services and do their jobs efficiently. They wanted their customer service to be top- grade, and we strive for these ideals everyday.

These ideas were some of the building blocks for the foundation for our first SERVPRO territory- Pewaukee and Sussex- and we will provide these same ideals and commitments to Southern Washington County.
